“My name is Orvinio, it comes from the English ‘Arwin’, because my dad was an immigrant in Boston and always loved that name. After the earthquake I’ve been coming back every morning to see my house. I can’t stay in a hotel, it doesn’t feel right… Sometimes I’m ashamed to be given free food.”

Orvinio’s home (in the background) was destroyed the following morning by another earthquake.

On August 24th, central Italy was hit by an earthquake that killed hundreds of people. A second earthquake of 6.5 magnitude on October 30th completed the destruction of many medieval towns, fortunately with no casualties. It left thousands without a home.
